Detailed description

Urothelial carcinoma of the bladder (UCB) is the 10th most common cancer worldwide and causes significant morbidity and mortality in our healthcare systems. A deeper understanding of tumor biology is essential to improve current diagnostics and therapy. This project will provide the first characterization of the UCB-specific epitranscriptome, the distribution pattern of the most important RNA modification, at single-base resolution and thus provide fundamentally important information to understand the role of this mRNA modification in carcinogenesis. In addition, our results will also provide a critical resource to develop novel epitranscriptomic biomarkers for patient stratification.
