To perform research into cancer is the task of the German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, DKFZ) according to its statutes. DKFZ is the largest biomedical research institute in Germany and a member of the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers. In more than 100 divisions and research groups, the more than 3,000 employees, of which more than 1,200 are scientists, are investigating the mechanisms of cancer, are identifying cancer risk factors and are trying to find strategies to prevent people from getting cancer.They are developing novel approaches to make tumor diagnosis more precise and treatment of cancer patients more successful.

University Medicine Mannheim (UMM)

Together with the University Medical Center Mannheim, the Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University forms the University Medicine Mannheim.

The University Medicine Center Mannheim is one of the largest medical institutions and research centers in the region. The Medical Faculty Mannheim is one of two independent medical faculties of the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg. 

The Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University and the University Medical Center Mannheim cooperate on an equal basis in the joint administrative board.

Hector Foundation II

The Hector Foundation II was established in March 2008 by the married couple Dr. h.c. Hans-Werner Hector and Josephine Hector in Weinheim. It is part of a group of companies designed to ensure that during their lifetime as well as after their death, the Hector couple‘s assets are continuously dedicated to specific philanthrophic purposes.
