Mission
The DKFZ Hector Cancer Institute at the University Medicine Mannheim concentrates expertise in cancer research and cancer medicine in order to establish an exemplary institution with a high visibility. The transfer of results from oncological laboratory research to patient care (translation) will be accelerated and findings from everyday clinical practice will be utilised for cancer research (reverse translation). In addition to a focus on the personalised treatment of cancer, cancer prevention research, including cancer survivorship, is being established as a second focus of the DKFZ Hector cancer institute. This research helps to prevent cancer, detect it at an early stage and promote the quality of life and health literacy of cancer survivors.
