Detailed description
Circulating tumor cells (CTC) are derived from primary tumors or metastases and can be found in patients' blood. These rare cells can be isolated from the blood via an improved workflow established. Through high dimensional (40 proteins) analysis of these individual cells using multiplexed ion beam imaging (MIBI), the project aims to characterize CTC heterogeneity as well as treatment-induced evolution and relate these profiles to primary and metastatic tumors from non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. Together this will provide a novel window into tumor evolution and the development of therapeutic resistance in cancer.
